A Ministry to the heartfelt legacies of donors, and a service to the internal and extended ministries of St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church

The Foundation of St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church is a nonprofit organization and a separate 501(c)(3) from St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, established in 2000 to provide funds for religious and charitable needs outside the scope of the annual budget of the congregation.

St. Andrew’s Names Chief Operating Officer Christa Getchell to Serve As Executive Director of The Foundation of St. Andrew’s

St. Andrew’s is pleased to announce Chief Operating Officer Christa Getchell will assume responsibilities as Executive Director of the St. Andrew’s Foundation effective immediately.  The position, previously held by Pastor Gerry Rafftery, is designed to increase awareness and participation, as well as elevate the benefit of The Foundation in relationship with the church’s mission and ministries.

“As we see the landscape of giving changing within the church, I am pleased to extend my role into more of the daily operations of The Foundation of St. Andrew’s as its Executive Director,” Getchell stated.  “I am grateful for a wonderful board of generous leaders in our congregation and the direction set forth by Pastor Gerry Rafftery, who will continue to remain active in the life and ministry of St. Andrew’s and serve as an adviser to me during this transition.”

Lead Pastor Mike Carlson: “I am grateful for Christa’s willingness to assume this responsibility and assist in our overall generosity strategy which focuses on continuing our future of mission and ministry, and enhancing individual connection of giving and faith.”

Getchell began working with St. Andrew’s in 1990 as Volunteer Services Director.  In 2017, she returned to St. Andrew’s in her current role as Chief Operating Officer. In addition to having her MBA, Getchell brings a rich and diverse background of 35-plus years in nonprofit leadership, including six years as VP Community Relations/President of the Park Nicollet Foundation.

  • Donations to The Foundation are separate and distinct from day-to-day operating funds of the church.
  • Through these gifts, The Foundation seeks to match donor intentions with ministries that serve the needs of people in Christ’s name in the community, the nation, and around the world.
  • Directors of The Foundation have the legal and financial responsibility to preserve gifts and to make careful investment decisions using annually-produced income to fund Foundation distributions. The hope is for all members of our church community to consider a legacy gift to The Foundation of St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church. A. No, not for a gift to an established endowed fund. However there is a minimum of $10,000 to create a new dedicated endowed fund which will also require approval from the board.

A. No. The Foundation of St. Andrew’s is a separate 501(c)(3) organization from the church.

A. Please reach out to our executive director or any board member (listed above) for help in getting started with a bequest to The Foundation. We are here to help you and your attorney formalize your charitable intentions.

Q. Does everyone need to have a Will?
A. Absolutely, Yes! No matter how large or modest your estate may be, the people you love will appreciate formal documents to guide them through the difficulties following your death. Families often struggle during this stressful time figuring out and coming to agreement with what to do with our loved ones’ assets. The Foundation can assist in connecting you with resources to help create these necessary documents.
